Overview

What is vesting in crypto?

Vesting sets aside part of a coin’s total supply and releases it into the market once certain conditions are met. While tokens are locked (the vesting period, or token lock-up), investors can’t trade them. This reduces market manipulation and token dumping, and makes a project more stable.

As vested coins are released, projects typically award them to early investors as a reward for their loyalty. The model comes from traditional finance, where it is used to distribute shares, stock and stock options to a company’s executives.

Key metrics: $17.46 billion market size in 2023 and $1,431.54 billion revenue forecast for 2030 (Grand View Research), and a 43.7% growth rate (metav)
The problem

Custom token management is complex, and the stakes are high.

VTVL’s goal: remove the complexities in building custom token management, so project owners can lock, schedule and distribute tokens without building it all themselves.

Before VTVL, project owners had to build custom token management themselves, and it was hard for anyone to see what was locked, what had been claimed and what was still unclaimed. With real money at stake, any mistake was costly, which is why security came up as a key priority in 93% of user calls.

Key takeaways
  1. 01

    Ease of use

Users want a simple, easy platform to use and navigate.

  2. 02

    Token management capacity

The capability to manage tokens on a strong dashboard.

  3. 03

    Efficient handling of locked tokens

Unlocking tokens and seeing how much is claimed and unclaimed.

  4. 04

    Security

As they are dealing with finance, users want their tokens to be secure.

My role

Founding UX designer, from research to design system

I owned the product design end to end: the research and user calls, the product flows, the interface, the design system and the visual identity redesign, taking ideas from concept to interactive prototypes.

Key features

What we designed

01

Connect your wallet

Onboarding starts with a single step: connect a wallet such as MetaMask or WalletConnect.

Connect your wallet screen with MetaMask and WalletConnect options
02

The dashboard

The main dashboard gives users an overview of their token portfolio, their contracts and schedules, plus a pending-actions section listing what they need to do to execute token transfers. A dynamic vesting chart shows sender and recipient what the schedule looks like and the progress to date, and a shareable status page keeps recipients up to date.

03

Automated vesting schedules within minutes

Project owners can create new vesting schedules on-chain within minutes, so tokens are distributed to the right recipients on time, every time.

Configure schedule flow: date, time and cliff duration
04

On-chain tracking and instant token distribution

Distribute tokens to investors and employees securely, with audited smart contracts and a seamless interface.

05

Create new or import contracts

Start the contract creation process and manage multiple contracts side by side.

Outcome

From MVP prototypes to a full product ecosystem

Over three years as founding UX designer, from 2022 to 2025, I took VTVL from its first MVP prototypes to a complete token management platform, with its own design system and a redesigned visual identity, shaped around the clarity and security users asked for.
